(SIS S1 E04) For Love of God: An Invitation to Theology (w. Dr. Ronnie Campbell)

For Love Of God

By: Brian G. Chilton and Curtis Evelo | July 11, 2021

Through the summertime, we will host a new series entitled the “Summer Interview Series” which engages Christian scholars and experts about issues in their chosen fields. Does theology and apologetics play a role in worldview development? Does theology hold practical applications? Theology impacts every aspect of life. In his book, For Love of God, Dr. Ronnie Campbell describes the important role that theology holds for each individual. On this episode of the Bellator Christi Podcast, Curtis and Brian are joined by Dr. Ronnie Campbell as he discusses his book and the importance of every day theology.

  1. Could you describe how you came to accept Christ as your Savior?
  2. You recently wrote the book For Love of God: An Invitation to Theology. What is the primary aim of the book and who is your intended audience?
  3. In the first chapter, you discuss theologizing everything and the importance of intellectualism to the task of theology. You further note that everything is theological. Can you explain what you mean by “everything is theological?”
  4. In the second chapter, you discuss shaping a worldview. Can you define what a “worldview” is and the role that theology plays into its construction?
  5. The third chapter examines the role of apologetics in the shaping of a worldview. Is there a biblical defense to be made for apologetics? Can anyone be an apologist?
  6. The fourth chapter describes the confrontation of false views. For some, this can be scary as it can become confrontational. For others, this is an excuse to be confrontational. How is the best way to defend Christianity against false views while also maintaining a winsome spirit?
  7. The fifth chapter engages the issue of doubt. Is doubt normal for the Christian? If so, how does one combat doubt when it comes?
  8. The sixth chapter discusses the need for one to become a living sacrifice. How does one become a living sacrifice, and what relation do the Great Commandments and the Great Commission hold in this practice?
  9. The last four chapters describe the importance of building character, making disciples, growing in worship, and integrating faith. To simplify the last four chapters, how can believers integrate their theological worldview into practical everyday living?
  10. The church has faced a lot of problems in recent years. Do you hold out hope for the modern church to make an impact on the culture? If so, how might that happen?
