(Podcast 5.19.21) Christian Denominationalism and What Unites the Church

Church Unity

By: Brian G. Chilton and Curtis Evelo | May 19, 2021

Denominations, some argue, illustrate how Christians are unable to get along. But is this true? Do the differences in Christian denominations separate the core essentials of the faith? In this episode, Brian and Curtis examine various examples of Christian denominations and show how Christians are, in the most part, united by the primary doctrines of the Christian faith. You may just find that we have more in common than we do that divides us.

1 With so many denominations how do we know what is right ?

2. Some main denominations are:

    1. Anglican
    2. Wesleyan/Methodist
    3. Presbyterian
    4. Church of Christ
    5. Baptist
    6. Pentecostal
    7. Catholic

3. What are the historic origins and how did they originally branch off into what we see today?

4. What my idea here is to show and explain how close they all are and how different they are .. do these all fall under the umbrella of Church orthodoxy?

5. What are the differences (if any) in doctrine of salvation?

6. What are the differences in church polity?

7. What are the different doctrinal modes of Baptism?

8. Worship in a Pentecostal church is clearly different than in a Anglican is that a dividing issue?

9. What are the similarities that we share?

10. How can we use this information to minister to the people around us ?
