(Podcast 1.13.21) A Biblical Approach to the Mark of the Beast

Mark Of The Beast

By: Brian G. Chilton and Curtis Evelo | January 13, 2021

Recently, Brian wrote a piece for Bellator Christi entitled “The Mark of the Beast: A Biblical and Theological Approach.” On this podcast, Curtis discusses the article with Brian as they delve deeper into the biblical context of Revelation 13, the qualities that the mark of the beast shares with the seal of God, and discuss the theological aspects of the text that must be considered when interpreting the text.

1. Explain the difference between the futurist and preterist perspectives concerning the book of Revelation.

2. What does the text say about the mark of the beast (MOTB)?

3. What is the MOTB as understood with the worship of the unholy trinity? And what is the unholy trinity?

4. Is the MOTB a secretive thing?

5. What does “666” represent?

6. What is the seal, or mark, of God, and what does this tell us about the MOTB?

7. How does Jesus’s teaching in Matthew 12:31 impact our understanding of the MOTB?

8. How do the history of John’s day and the backdrop of the book of Daniel play into one’s interpretation of the MOTB?

9. How does this exercise speak to the importance of proper biblical interpretation and the importance of systematic theology?
