(Podcast 5.20.20) Apologetics in the Book of Isaiah with Dr. Daniel Sloan

Isaiah1

In this edition of the Bellator Christi Podcast, Brian Chilton and Curtis Evelo interview Dr. Daniel Sloan about his newly completed dissertation on the apologetics found in the Book of Isaiah. We cover the following questions:

  1. What is the main thesis of your dissertation concerning apologetics in Isaiah?
  2. In your appendix, you note the importance of holding to the unitary authorship of the Book of Isaiah. What have you discovered in your research that strengthens the notion that Isaiah was written by one prophet?
  3. How does Isaiah’s portrayal of Yahweh as the Creator serve as an apologetic?
  4. How do the portraits of Yahweh’s interventions serve as an apologetic defense for the faith?
  5. What can we make of the predictive prophecies in Isaiah and what does this tell us about Yahweh?
  6. Which messianic prophecies stand out to you in Isaiah’s work?
  7. How may the modern apologist use Isaiah for one’s evangelistic efforts?
