(Podcast 9.20.19) Paul and Philosophy: Do They Mix?

Parthenon

When interpreting Scripture, three things are important to remember to accurately exegete the text: context, context, context! Such is true with Colossians 2:8. People have read Colossians 2:8, which reads “Be careful that no one takes you captive through philosophy,” and argued that Paul opposed all uses of philosophy. But is that true? On this episode of the Bellator Christi Podcast, Brian Chilton notes that not only was Paul not opposed to philosophy, Paul used philosophy quite frequently to argue for the Christian worldview. Find out how, and the numerous philosophers Paul quotes (including Socrates and Plato) on this edition of the Bellator Christi Podcast.
