(Podcast 6.8.18) Sharing Jesus with the Cults (w. Jason Oakes)

Sharing Jesus With The Cults

How do believers engage with individuals associated with cults? How does one determine if one is involved in a cult? What are the signs? On this final episode of the 2017-2018 season of the Bellator Christi Podcast, we are joined by Jason Oakes, the senior pastor at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Roundup, Montana and former associate professor at Bethel Seminary. He received his Master of Divinity from Bethel Seminary and studied church ministry at Hope International University. He recently wrote and published the book Sharing Jesus with the Cults: How to Handle the Most Common Conversations Christians Get Into with Cult Members which is available on Amazon and at bookstores everywhere.

We discuss the following on today’s episode:

  1. Please share your testimony.
  2. What constitutes essential Christianity?
  3. How would you define a cult?
  4. What are the dangers of a cult?
  5. What are some of the more prominent cults of today?
  6. In our area, the Jehovah Witness movement is quite strong. Some have friends and family members who are part of the movement. Why do we consider the Jehovah Witness movement a cult?
  7. The same question applies to Mormonism. I know some great people who identify themselves Mormons. Glenn Beck is a Mormon. So, why do we hold that Mormonism is a cult?
  8. So, how do you share Jesus with cult members?
  9. Any concluding thoughts?

As mentioned earlier, this is the final episode of the 2017-2018 season. We will take a break during the summer but will begin a brand new season of the podcast in late August. Stay tuned to BellatorChristi.com for the latest details. Also, throughout the summer, I will be uploading episodes of the Bellator Christi Podcast from its days on Blog Talk Radio in a special Flashback series. Also, I will be catching up on getting the messages on the podcast. Rest assured, there will still be podcasts through the summer, but the live commentary edition of the podcast will begin its new season on Friday, August 24, 2018.
