About Michael Boehm

Michael Boehm was saved at the age of 24 and started his journey into studying and immersing himself in mastering the bible and apologetics. His life experiences give him unique insight and firsthand knowledge that led him down a path of discovery and learning. First raised as a Roman Catholic and then spending time practicing in the occult, Michael had spent years exploring other religions and the supernatural. Michael eventually was introduced to Christianity and accepted Jesus into his life. Soon after becoming saved, Michael found his faith being challenged not only by those outside of the church, but also by the heretical teachings of the word of faith movement. These challenges led him to study the Bible and apologetics intently for the last 16 years. In March of 2012 Michael launched his ministry, Youth Apologetics Training. The mission of the ministry was to teach difficult apologetics and worldview topics in a way that anyone could understand. Since the founding of Youth Apologetics Training, Michael has recorded over 600 podcast episodes. In these episodes, Michael covers a myriad of topics in full detail to bring his listeners understanding and give them tools they can use in their day to day life. Michael has also recorded over 75 interviews with top level scientists and other experts in the realm of worldviews and apologetics. You can find his teachings on Sermon Audio, iTunes, and at youthapologeticstraining.com.

Wow, I would be honored, thank you. I’m sending you an email now.

Thank you for this podcast series about the dangers of the occult. I am sixty-four years old. Half a century ago, when I was fourteen, I joined a group of my high school friends who were holding seances with a Ouija board. One of my classmates had been given a Ouija board “game” by her parents for her birthday. Another classmate brought in a book he had, which contained detailed instructions on how to contact the dead via automatic handwriting and other means.

I was trying to contact my grandfather, who had died earlier that year. A fifteen year old boy whom I’ll call Mark, was trying to contact his mom who had died when he was in elementary school. We were “normal” kids, “good” kids, when we started doing this. We made decent grades, we did our chores, we weren’t rebellious or trouble makers. We did not drink alcohol or use drugs. But by the end of that school year, both Mark and I were diagnosed with schizophrenia and committed to a state insane asylum — one of those massive, Gothic style human warehouses that has since been closed and torn down.

By the saving grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, I was set free from the nonstop babble of demonic voices when I was sixteen. Since then, I have had numerous doctors and other professionals tell me that I must have been badly misdiagnosed, because there is nothing schizophrenic about me. But I know that from 1967 through part of 1969 I did, indeed, hear voices, see terrifying visions, and constantly have to struggle against the indescribable sensation that evil spirits were trying to take over my body. It was worse than the worst nightmare and more horrifying than any horror movie, because this was my actual life for two whole years.

And then, by the grace of God, I was set free!

The biggest regret I have, when I look back over my sixty-four years on earth, is my involvement with the occult. Although I know that I am fully forgiven and I have been delivered from evil, the repercussions of my involvement with the occult have negatively impacted so much of my life. For example, I have family members who still shun me and treat me like I am a terrible embarrassment, because of the fact that I was once diagnosed with schizophrenia and locked in an insane asylum. They never changed their attitude toward me, not even when I became a nurse after my three children were grown.

I was elected president of my nursing school class and I graduated with perfect grades. I do not say this to brag, but simply to demonstrate how far God’s grace has brought me from the mental institution! I also published a novel years ago under a different pen name, and I was on the Oprah Winfrey Show in May 2000, featured in one of her inspirational Remembering Your Spirit segments. And yet, despite my accomplishments, to the majority in my family of origin, “once crazy, always crazy.”

The stigma of “mental illness” is a very difficult thing to carry through life. Yet God’s great love and mercy are more than enough for me!

Thank you again for letting people know about the dangers of the occult. I’m sorry to say that I have spoken very little about this over the past fifty years, because I wanted to keep the “embarrassing” part of my past well hidden. But now that I am in the twilight of my life, I believe I need to share my story as a warning to others.

For this reason, I am currently writing a memoir… however, I ONLY want to write and publish a memoir, if it is the Lord’s will! I would appreciate a prayer for God’s help and guidance for me to know and do His will. I am also praying for the Lord to bless and guide you both in your ministries.

By the way, I love the music you are now using as the intro to your podcasts, the song Crucified. It is awesome!

God Bless,
Lynda Lee
