(Podcast 3.27.18) Message: “Questions about NDEs” (2 Cor. 12:1-10)

Nde

Our series on heaven continues with an exploration of a quite confusing topic: near-death experiences (NDEs). Because of confusion pertaining to NDEs, people gravitate towards two extreme positions. On the one hand, there are individuals who throw out the baby with the bathwater. Since not all NDEs are explainable, they throw out the entire experience chalking it up to some demonic experience. However, these experiences more time than not bring life transformation, leading people to Christ. If these are demonic experiences, they fail the demonic cause quite miserably. On the other hand, there are individuals who accept the testimonies of NDErs and place their experiences over the truths of Scripture. But, this is problematic as Scripture is the ultimate revelation of God until he calls us home. So, what is the truth? Are NDEs real? Can a balance be found? Find out today on this edition of The Bellator Christi Podcast in a message given by Pastor Brian Chilton.

  1. Are NDEs real?
    1. Yes, because of BIBLICAL EXAMPLES.
    2. Yes, because of MODERN EXAMPLES.
  2. What can we learn from NDEs?
    1. We learn of the FAILURE OF MATERIALISM. (Thomas Nagel’s “Mind and Cosmos”)
    2. We learn of the REALITY OF AFTERLIFE.
  3. What are the limitations of modern NDEs?
    1. Modern NDEs are limited by LANGUAGE.
    2. Modern NDEs are limited by INTERPRETATION.
    3. Modern NDEs are limited by REVELATION.
    4. Modern NDEs are limited by APOLOGETICS.
