(Podcast 1.30.20) Mere Molinism with Tim Stratton

Tim Stratton

In this edition of the Bellator Christi Podcast, Brian Chilton speaks with Tim Stratton from Free Thinking Ministries about the essentials of Molinism. Be listening for Stratton’s defense of Molinism against the grounding objection. This is the first time that Stratton has offered this defense on the air. The following questions are covered on the podcast:

  1. What is Molinism?
  2. You have defended the concept of “Mere Molinism.” What constitutes Mere Molinism?
  3. Could you explain middle knowledge?
  4. Jason Kline and I were discussing an objection that he holds to Molinism. How would you respond to the question, “Does the concept of middle knowledge commit the category fallacy?”
  5. What are some of the main objections against Molinism that you have encountered?
  6. How is Molinism beneficial in resolving theological and philosophical problems?
  7. This question comes from VT Clark, “For those who are interested in Molinism, but not familiar with it, what books, articles, etc, would you suggest for people to develop a basic understanding of it?”
  8. This question comes from Curtis Evelo, our normal cohost who unfortunately couldn’t make it for our podcast today. Curtis asks, “How far back in history does the Molinist thought go? Is it something that originated with Molina, or can you trace it back to a time prior to Molina?”
