(Podcast 11.1.19) Does God Put More on Us Than We Can Bear?

2corinthians129 Grace Sufficient

“God will not put more on you than you can bear” is a classic Christian cliche that is often passed around in churches. People use the phrase to comfort those who are struggling in some aspect of life. But is the statement true? While examining 2 Corinthians 12, Paul seems to imply that it is not true. While having a near-death experience with Christ, Paul asks the Lord to take away a thorn in his flesh that he could no longer bear. Christ told him that his strength would be shown in Paul’s weakness. God’s grace was sufficient for Paul. Even while looking at the nation of Israel, God called and used Israel because they were weak and helpless. Through their weaknesses, God’s strength was shown as a testimony to the world. On today’s podcast, Brian G. Chilton discusses why God places more on us than we can bear. However, through it all, God’s love is demonstrated to all his children.
