(BCP) When God Says No

When God Says No

Prayer is an important aspect of the Christian’s life. Prayer allows us to communicate with God. At times, prayer becomes crucial as an individual faces difficulties in life. These difficulties can range from anything from physical ailments, financial troubles, to familial discord. God will answer in one of three ways: yes, no, or wait. Some groups would have you believe that you can force God to answer, yes. But, such an ideology does not hold true biblically nor philosophically. At times, God will say, “No.” When God answers negatively, some will lose their cool or even lose their faith. Responses such as these demonstrate a lackluster trust in God. Are there reasons why God may say, no? At least 5 reasons may explain why God may answer negatively.

1. God may say “no” because the timing is wrong (e.g., Sarai praying for a son).

2. god may say “no” because others may be reached by his power due to a delay (e.g., Jesus waited to visit Lazarus after Lazarus died in order to raise him from the dead).

3. God may say “no” because something better lies ahead (e.g., Joseph was in prison, but eventually obtained a high place in Egypt).

4. God may say “no” because he is building faith (e.g., Job).

5. God may say “no” for reasons known only to him which will be revealed in eternity (e.g., 2 Cor. 4:17).

Join us today on The Bellator Christi Podcast as host, Brian Chilton, explains these above reasons why God may say, “no.”
