(BCP) Archaeology and the Resurrrection (w. Ted Wright)

Shroud Of Turin

On today’s podcast, we are joined by archaeologist Ted Wright. Ted is the founder of EpicArchaeology.org which launched Easter Sunday of 2017 (April 16th, 2017), one day after the airing of this episode. Ted has been featured on CNN’s documentary Finding Jesus: Faith, Fact, and Forgery and the History Channel’s documentary Mankind: The Story of All of Us. Ted discusses recent archaeological evidences that involve the resurrection of Jesus of Nazareth: the findings of archaeologists at the Church of the Holy Sepulchre (the place where it is believed Jesus of Nazareth was buried) and the Shroud of Turin (the cloth believed to have covered the body of the crucified Jesus and which bears his image). Be sure to catch this fascinating episode of The Bellator Christi Podcast. This interview is one that you will not want to miss and will not soon forget.

Outline of the Interview

1. The Church of the Holy Sepulchre (COHS) is held to be the burial place of Christ. What evidence do we have that this is the actual location?

2. Recently, the COHS underwent a series of repairs. What repairs were done to the COHS?

3. Archaeologists were amazed when investigating the burial bed. What did they find?

4. Another artifact is of vast importance and equally controversial. We are, of course, talking about the Shroud of Turin. What is the Shroud?

5. In 1988, the Shroud was dated to the mid 1500s which would have proven the Shroud to have been a forgery. Yet, the 1988 test has shown to be flawed. Why can we safely say that the 1988 test was erroneous?

6. What evidence do we have for the Shrouds early dating, that is, to the 1st century?

7. Can we trace the history of the Shroud back to 1st century Palestine?

8. What other clues do we have that the Shroud is authentic?

9. What apologetic tools do these discoveries offer to the modern Christian defender?
