Thankful for an Incredible VBS

Gangway To Galilee Vbs

Regular readers of pastorbrianchilton.wordpress.com have probably noticed that an article is posted weekly either on Sunday afternoon or on Monday. However, as you have probably also noticed, I was delayed in publishing this week’s article. I have had the opportunity to take part in an exciting Vacation Bible School at Huntsville Baptist Church. God is truly blessing in a mighty way. Earlier in the week, a severe storm landed in our area. We noticed outside that lightning had apparently snapped one of the power lines. The downed power line had caused a fire in a neighbor’s yard. This downed power line eventually led to the explosion of a transformer. However, God protected us in multiple ways. First, and most important, no one was hurt. But second, as bizarre as it may sound, neighbors of the church electrically downstream from the transformer lost power and our neighbors electrically upstream from the church lost power. However, we never lost power once during our VBS meeting. It’s for reasons like these that I am not a cessasionalist. God still performs miracles today just as He did 2,000 years ago. Paul is correct when he writes, “Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think” (Ephesians 3:20, NLT). God works in mighty ways, but the problem is that we too often fail to see His protective hand.

Nonetheless, expect an article to be published towards the end of the week. This week’s topic will be on biblical interpretation.

I would also like to take a moment to thank Rhonda Cleary, Bethany Collins, Faith Dill, Erin Collins, Crystal Watkins, Jennifer Chilton, Michelle Bryant, Lisa Jester, and the many other amazing workers who have made this year’s VBS an incredible success. Our theme was Gangway to Galilee. On behalf of Huntsville Baptist Church, I would also like to thank Wally and Bonnie of WBFJ 89.3FM who came, broadcasted from the church, and set up a bouncy slide for the kids. It was an honor to have them with us.

Continue to pray for the website as we are now reaching over 25,000 people in over 154 nations. Continue to pray for the ministry at Huntsville Baptist Church. To God be all the glory!!!
